‘Our aim is to be an exemplar provider of pharmaceutical services setting levels of practice for others to follow, both locally & nationally. All our staff are fully trained, providing a team ethos with individual respect for each other and ensuring the health needs of our patients are paramount’
Waterton Pharmacy is a state of the art community pharmacy designed to operate in collaboration with the medical practice on site.
Pharmacies have traditionally been seen as separate to the NHS and primary care, simply offering a stand-alone retailing and dispensary service, often in the high street.
In recent years there has been a change in direction for pharmacy, as the government has looked to develop the skills of pharmacists to provide clinical services for patients. Common examples are that many pharmacies now check blood pressure and cholesterol. However, there is scope for pharmacies to be involved in a much wider range of NHS clinical activity, for example checks for coronary heart disease, diabetes and asthma, offering advice on contraception, sexual health and testing for sexually transmitted diseases, offering new services for drug users, smoking cessation, care home support, minor ailments & emergency contraception.
As part of this new direction in pharmacy, you will want to be able to consult with your pharmacist confidentially and comfortably. You’re no longer expected to stand at the counter chatting to the pharmacist – we have a comfortable and fully confidential consulting room where you can raise any issues you like.
Waterton Pharmacy works closely with the medical practice to provide real benefits for you the patient and for the local community in a location that is both convenient and modern.
